Not best clutch, but best odds so far for 2013... find it bittersweet in a way.

So this year has been "meh" for me. A lot of slugs, a couple dud eggs, a couple boob eggs, and just low overall counts. Still, I am getting eggs, so can't complain too much.

First clutch was interesting, but not what I was looking for. The desired result for 8 eggs missed a little and got 1 female champagne out of it. Had a couple spotnose, but was really hoping for a couple more champagnes. Granted, just because I didn't get what I wanted, doesn't make it a bad clutch.

Another clutch got a killer bee, but the rest of the 7 weren't anything special. Had higher expectations for this clutch as well.

At this point I will have a busy august as the rest of the incubator full will be hatching in the next 3-4 weeks, all days apart from each other. But based on the first few clutches, I have lower hopes considering them as a sign of anything. I have high expectations for some good combos, but also not feeling the 'strength' of this year.

That's some of the past, and a touch on the future, but looking at the now, I can and cannot complain about the clutch that is my ending clutch for July. The complaint is the count was low for this girl and there was a slug. The plus of it is the results:

For the odds of the first few clutches not hitting the mark, I like what I see in the third clutch... kinda raises my hopes for the rest of the clutches. This was from a Champagne X Pewter. I am hoping for better combos from some of the upcoming clutches, but based on hitting the odds so far, I am good with the odds in this clutch.

Anyone else feeling kinda low on hitting the odds this year? Or am I just being a pessimist?

Only had the 1 clutch. Was pewter x normal. Ended up with 5 normals and 1 pastel. Not so great but all are healthy.

Congrats on the great looking babies!

Our season though running late has been pretty good.
    Clutch #1
Lesser x Normal, 6 eggs, 1.3 Lessers and 0.2 Normals

    Clutch #2
Lesser x Normal, 8 eggs, 3.1 Lessers and 2.2 Normals

Clutch #3 was an amazing clutch!
KillerBee x Pinstripe, 10 eggs, 1.4 SpinnerBlasts!, 0.2 Lemonblasts, 0.1 Bumblebee, 1.0 Pastel; The 10th egg didn't make it, a little lemonblast died in the egg.

    Clutch #4 is pipping now
So we shall see how it continues.

I think I need to retract the whole complaint of not getting good odds. Still not getting what I want in terms of the males that took, combos, or even ratios of morphs to normals, but this year I have a different playing of odds: So far I have 3 different clutches where multiple snakes sired the clutch (Not had more than 1 in a year before), and today I had a twin set from one egg (never had twins before). Not the odds that will build my collection, but definitely feeling this year gets points for being a pretty cool one so far.....

.... ok, the original complaint still stands, but it helps me feel better having at least some cool things happening along the way to keep the excitement up!

Who else is having cool things happen this year?

    Have not the odds with me either.. first year breeding and so far;

Spider x lesser, 6 eggs, 2slugs, ended up with 2.1 spiders and 1.0 normal. All healthy though.
Het genetic stripe x het generic stripe, 7eggs, 7 slugs...
Cinny/pastel x mojave, 6 eggs, 6 fertile and all are still alive in the 'bator.. hoping for my first combo.. fingers are crossed..
    It's all about genetics ..
