Weight or age?
How do you guys determine when a female is ready to breed? I heard the "look" of the body is more important than the actual weight but what about age? Some BPs just grow faster than others. Can a female get big enough to breed but be too young?

Both
While I would have no issue breeding a 1100 grams 4 years old female I would not breed a 1500 grams female unless she is at least 18 months of age.
Personally the bigger the better and it's not a matter of weight either I go by looks and proportions.

it all comes down to if the females are ready .. I had 1500g 18 month old girls not produce this season for me, 1200g 26 month old girls however did .. when the female is ready she will produce eggs, not before

Not if she's never been with a male!

I agree with both, generally I go with age. If they are older, but not terrible heavy I'll still give them a shot. I haven't really tried a girl younger than 2.5 years.

Re: Weight or age?
I had a few produce their 2nd winter at right around 1600 grams, while a few other girls that are a year older and 2000+ grams didn't. It really depends on the animal, BP owners seem to think they have it all figured out but really the animals know best
