    Crossing Fingers Works!

Long story short, I had a pastel female that did not put on as much weight on after last season as I would have liked. She decided to go on a feed strike over the winter, and was barely at 1500g in January when she had been over 1900g the year before. I decided to give her the year off, she wasnt cycled or paired this year, but she had other plans in mind. Imagine my surprise when I opened the drawer to an ovulation in mid March.

I honestly wasnt suspecting any viable eggs, and was actually quite concerned when she didnt even lay until 56 days POS. I was just at the point of taking a trip to the vet when she decided to give me a break and lay. Final count was 2 slugs and 3 TINY fertile eggs, the largest being 41g.

The 41g egg next to a 94g egg from another clutch.

Fast forward to day 55. I had decided to treat them like regular eggs and cut little slits. Everything looked fine and today I got my first nose! Of course as soon as I grabbed the camera he/she pulled right back into the egg. These guys are going to be corn snake tiny!

The other good news is mom is eating like a champ this year. She is already back over 1600g. I swear these guys enjoy messing with us.

That's so cool! Glad mom and babies seem to be doing well. What was the previous pairing?

Well, that's another interesting part this girl likes to hold onto sperm and surprise me. Last year she was bred to a pewter, pastel butter and a yb and gave me pewters, cinnies and a spotnose (she hadn't been with the spotnose in over two years). Well, it doesn't look like the pewter or the spotnose (lol) get to claim paternity for this years batch.

First two are out and they are a male pastel and female super pastel butter. Looks like there is another pastel still in the egg. These two are both 35g, actually bigger than I expected.
