He's trying to send you a message.....ditch those cheap P.O.S. analog gauges and get a digital thermo/hygro gauge!! You can get an Accurite from Walmart for under $9 and it will be way more accurate.
Also, is that the only hide he has? He needs at least two hides....one on the cool end and one on the warm end over the hot spot.
