    Double clutching

I have a weird situation here, my pastel girl laid June 6th and has eaten twice but she has gotten really big, bigger than she was before she laid. My buddy told me she looked gravid and I told him she just laid. That's when he told me about double clutching, I've never heard of it before, but something weird is happening she's about to shed and has tail suck and feels sponge just like she did before she laid in June.
I went to take a picture for this post and found this she shed and pooped or something. LOL

If she just laid then I highly doubt thats anything close to a 'tail suck' your feeling shes likely just slightly concave in places from not having eggs taking up all the space and cause she hasn't built up her fat reserves yet.
She probably feels like a sponge cause she has a really big poo or gas build up inside her bowels.

Double clutching is something that corn snakes, or rat snakes do, not pythons. Ball Pythons take most of the year to build up enough fat to be able to put out just 1 clutch and exert pretty much all of that energy for that 1 clutch.

    Re: Double clutching

I was just repeating what I was told, I think she just had a lot of fluid built up from not eating and after a couple meals she finally let it out.

I've got a girl who laid a seven egg clutch in March and hasn't gone back on feed yet. This has never happened before, so I took her to our exotic animal vet who did an ultrasound and whoops--she's got some good sized follicles again. It's not impossible; it's just not the norm. We're hoping she resorbs so she can start putting mass back on, but with the possibility of sperm retention, we have to be watchful.
