    New arrival!!!

Are there clamps I can get to work with that kind of lid? If so what kind?

It's hard to believe they don't sell them with more secure tops

    There are these clips: http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...AvailInUS%2FNo

I find them to be a pain to deal with, but they do work well.

Keep in mind that glass tanks were designed with fish in mind and not reptiles. There are some cages out there designed for reptiles and they are more secure:

Pet/reptile shops usually sell universal clips. The best kind for a tank IMO are the ones that actually slide onto a track that's on the tank itself, and then lock with a pin. But that is part of the tank, I'm not sure if you can modify it to fit a standard fish tank. I can post a pic if that's unclear.

If you go with a heavy item on top, I'd put 1 on each end of the tank (2 total if that makes sense). I had a friend that used a brick but just put it in the center. His ball was still able to push up the edges (but it was a grown one, so it might be fine in your case).

Yeah, I would even go as far as putting one on each corner. (4 total)

    Cute baby!
We use these on our corn's tank...they are tight as heck! I have 8 around the tank. The top is a hinged one though, so I only deal with 4 of them on a regular basis. http://m.petco.com/product/4353/Petc...ity-Clips.aspx

My baby ball is in a zilla critter cage...which I love. It's way easier than dealing with clips, but she will need an upgrade soon and unless I can find a cheap zilla critter cage on CL, she'll be in a 20L with clips, too.

    New arrival!!!

I think I let the temps get a little hot. What are the ranges? The care sheet just says about 80 and 90... The warm side tonight hit 95 so I turned the lamp off. Getting a dimmer tomorrow

The ideal ranges are 78-82 cool side, 88-92 hot side. No pat of the cage should ever get above 95 or below 75. Anything in between the 2 extremes is fine.

Is it ok if the ambient temp throughout the tank is around 85?

I've used the standard universal clips and the Zilla locking clips, both of which slide into the track at the top of the aquarium on a standard fish tank just as well as they do on Zilla brand terrariums. As long as there is a rubber piece running along the top (which pretty much all fish tanks have) you should be able to use standard clips that reply on sliding underneath it. I've never seen an aquarium where that rubber around the top was glued down so well that you could not slide a clip underneath it. From the little hole on the lid (the one meant to be there on the edge, not the tear), I am guessing that's a Zilla top. Those little holes are prescrewed to fit these locking clamps:

    http://www.amazon.com/Zilla-09732-Lo...a+locking+clip

They work great for me and, like the universal ones, depend on being able to slide up under the little edging around the aquarium. If I were you I would go with those, simply because they give a good fit and you don't have to fumble around with bricks (which I tend to drop on my feet) LOL.
