Is this a Fire?

I have someone wanting to trade me this Female. It's suppose to be a Fire and I just wanted to get some opinions from people who know more about them than I do. He was wanting to trade me this fire female for a pin male. Any thoughts would be appreciated, Thanks

I do believe she is indeed a fire. However, not one I would want in my collection personally. I know you would be trading a male for female, but I'm not sure if she's worth it imo.
I prefer my fires to be light in color and extremely blushed out with lots of flames.

I think Mike41793 has one of the best looking fires I've ever seen and would use his as a top example:




Gale has really nice clean fires as well that I would also look at.

Yes you can. Its called quality and selective breeding can achieve that. By looking at the snake in question, I know it won't produce offspring as blushed out as Mike's fire for example. Quality in, quality out.

I just don't think the original fire is a good example of the morph, imo.

a good pastel doesn t show brown color for any one but the blushing is not always sign of quality. I will always prefer a lemon pastel with solid black than a blushed one. For the fire, it s also question of taste: specially when it comes to make a firefly with Mike fire you ll get extrem blushed fireflies.... And i prefer solid black with clean yellow. People like reduce pattern most of the time. I like reduce Enchi for sure but not reduced pastel. You can get fire without any spot in alien heads. people seems to judge their personal taste to evaluate quality. For spotnose it s same: a strong head mark makes everyone happy but people prefer a light colored spotnose, i prefer dark one.
so my opinion on this female fire is she looks like a normal fire and will make nice babies pair with the right sir. I guess she won t be able to give you blushed animals so avoid yellowbelly or blushed line of pastel but for a strong black firefly i will give her a try : If you have a lemon pastel to pair with her....

I will trade her for any male Pinstripe of the same size.

I agree with satomi about selective breeding but quality is not just blushing in fire... A fire is involved in breeding plans to clean a combo but not always to get blushing. specially not for me.

Yeah there are a few variations on what someone wants in a Fire. I am all about clean pattern and color. Blushing is far in the rear to those two, IMO.

This girl I picked up has only a touch of blushing, but is SO clean and bright.







Back to if the girl you are looking at is worth trading a Pin male for, I would say yes. Color seems to be decent even in the crappy pics, and the head spot is strong. She is not up to my standard for clean, but in the right project she will be nice. Black Pastel Fires or Cinny Fires from her would be very cool.

I wouldn't make that trade. She's a fire, but not a very nice one imo.

As people have said, quality fires can range a bit. I believe that this is true with quite a few morphs. Jinx and I both have nice fires, but they're very different. Decide what you like in a fire, and look for it.

I didnt know you could selectively breed for visual quality in only one generation with ball pythons. That makes a big difference though.

Im sorry i meant one US (human) generation. Since you can get babies out of Balls maybe every 2-3 years, that would be many more for them.

yeah , your 2 fires are really different and both high quality. But they should be involved in different projects. I still keep my mind on the trade.
