Leos make great pets and they are fairly easy, husbandry-wise. They need a UTH and a light cycle (which you can provide by letting the sun in through a window). Insects only, but they should be gutloaded and dusted 2-3 times a week, we use Repashy calcium plus. They usually choose a toilet corner and you just put a paper towel down in the designated spot. They need a humid hide for shedding. Water dish. My 5 yr old can completely care for them on her own, aside from me checking temps and daily monitoring.
Corn snakes are great for beginners. Lower temps than BPs, less humidity. They are usually more active during the day and, therefore, fun to watch. I love their personalities...at least I love our corn's personality! She's curious and nosy! This one is my 8 yr old's pet choice. She is able to handle the care completely, except for full cage clean outs and ofcourse, the parents monitor temps and behavior.
I've heard cresties are super easy! They eat a totally commercial diet and do wonderfully on it. Doesn't get easier than that. I think handling them takes a bit of practice because they like to jump. I don't have one though so this part is hearsay.
Good luck finding your next perfect herp! We tend to collect laterally instead of vertically, too!

lolol. I hear ya. I'll try not to hold your cruel words against you...

I really recommend Cresties, then. Seriously, they rock, and insects are totally optional.

Oooh, and hognose!! I love my hognose. And they never outgrow mice.

Ever thought of feeding dubias? They are easier for say a beardie to digest with less of the exoskeleton, they don't make annoying sounds, and don't smell as bad.

Bugs in general aren't my cup o' tea; I just don't like the idea of them if they get loose. And don't Dubais fly??

Edit----aren't those those round cockroaches?? Yeah....my mom isn't keen on cockroaches.

yup, roaches. but they're a heck of a lot cleaner and easier than crickets, and no, they don't climb or fly.

Cool; I'll keep that in mind. I really like your crested; I could get used to one of those I think...

By far the easiest snake to keep as a pet are Russian Rat Snakes.

The are known for being friendly, inquisitive and gentle. Even in mild climates, they are easy on your food bill as they will fast during the winter.

They like it cool, do fine without supplemental heat, and are generally bullet poof.
