Mice or rat hoppers? I would say he could take a prey item the size of a small adult mouse, but I wouldn't offer an adult mouse to a small hatchling, since they are strong enough and aware enough to harm your snake if you aren't careful.

    Re: live hoppers?

well he is a hatching a believe. he is still very small and has probably only ate once i am sure he ate right before i brought him home as he had a big lump in the belly. id prefer a hopper live for now so i can ween him off to f/t as i preffer it. im just worried he will starve himself before he eats a F/t
    ps im trying mice hoppers

I would try to find rat pinks, then. He won't starve himself. Hatchlings will eat just about anything because in the wild that's their most vulnerable time. Find a f/t small (10 or 12 gram) adult mouse or rat pink and offer and see if he takes it.

Since he's your first snake and a baby, it's super important to make sure your husbandry is spot-on.
