BPs and Pest Control

I've always wanted a BP and am now looking into getting one. This site and it's people have been so very helpful but there is one major question I still haven't been able to find a clear answer on- would Pest Control hurt a BP?

I live out in the middle of nowhere and have to have Pest Control come spray every three months or the scorpions and centipedes, among other things, try and carry me away! I have it set up so that I can move all my animals to my mother's house for the day while everything is going on. They spray at 8am and I come back sometime after lunch to open all the windows and turn the fans on to air out the leftover fumes for an hour or two. I don't bring my animals back until after I can be in the closed house without getting a headache, which even the slightest fumes seem to give me.

Would this be ok for a BP, or not at all? If it is, would I need to change something about the way I do things? And would I have to take his/her cage out of the house as well, or would it be fine to leave it there?

If anyone has any experience with this, or has any incite, I'd sure appreciate it. I'd love to have one(or more) of these beautiful animals but if this risks their lives in to great a way I'd rather they live long and healthy somewhere else.

I had to bug bomb my apartment like 10 years ago and what I did was put trash bags over ever enclosure and taped the bottom closed while I was at work. Came home and aired everything out and all seemed well. Have not had any ill effects from that one time. Although it may be a lesson in what NOT TO DO. Others may be able to chime in and correct me on that(please do). I will say I it was a combination of possible stupidity and laziness of finding someone to foster my reptiles for a day or so.

I would move them for the day to be safe. There's a reason that the directions for PAM, which is a 0.5% permethrin product for mites, state that it is not to be sprayed directly on the snake or in its water bowl.

I agree with moving them to be on the safe side. I'd rather play it safe as I love my snakes.

On a side note, ship all the scorpions you see to me please.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it! I'll see what I can work out with my Pest Control service on what they use but I will definitely be moving them when the house is sprayed. Now I just have to find someone who'll agree to keep them for the day hahaha

Neal- we've had a huge hatch down here, I guess, because I see one practically every day. I really don't know much about them, I'll admit, but they are everywhere!

Not sure where you are located, but we are in Central FL, and we have had tons of scorpions too. Luckily my SO loves them, because I am not a fan. He carefully rescues each one that gets in the house while I hide on the nearest tall object.

I'm in central Tx, about an hour north of San Antonio. The last couple of years they've been getting steadily worse, but we are in a pretty bad drought so maybe that's why? Lucky you, I have to take care of them by myself! Though I've gotten to where, if they're in my barn or my house, I suck them up with my hand vac and go throw them over the back fence.

I currently have a problem with Roaches. I want to treat the rooms in the house, but want my bp to be be safe. I can certainly move him temporarily, but was curious what products/procedures other owners use, if any.
