    400 gram BP?

Was checking craigslist in my area for any BPs they might have, found one for a female BP about 400grams, is that small? The picture has no point of reference for her size but from what I can tell they tend to get between 2000-4000grams?

What should I look out for if I buy herps from craigslist?

400g either means a baby or a skinny sub-adult. Personally, I would steer clear of Craigslist. Most of the time the genders are wrong and you always get a free case of mites, RI, and/or scale rot with your new snake. That's not to say you can't find a good deal on a healthy snake on Craigslist...it's just rare.

I would buy from a local breeder and you can know that you are buying a healthy, quality animal without the risk of multiple health issues.

Hmm, what is a way to get in touch with local breeders? I assume your recommendation about craigslist snakes probably holds true to retail shops as well?

Get a nice looking morph from someone known and get it shipped to your house

Most big breeders can ship cross country so finding a reputable breeder with what you are looking for shouldn't be limited to local offerings.

Big pet stores like petsmart/petco etc. are terrible and should be avoided. Some small mom & pop exotic pet shops are great, others aren't.

Here are a few breeders I like:

There are also a number of great breeders right here on this site!

generally speaking, yes. I, personally, choose not to shop at retail ships (especially chains like Petco and Petsmart) because they rarely take care of their animals. They are generally overpriced and if you buy one of their animals, they will buy more stock to mistreat. But, that's my personal philosophy.

If you want to PM me your location (state and perhaps largest metropolitan area near you) I can help look for some local breeders near you. You can always have a snake shipped to you from someone who is not local. Just two weeks ago I had a baby bumblebee shipped to me from across the country.
