Freezer for feeder mice suggestions
Hey guys.
In a week I'll have my very first snake (normal BP) And after convincing the wife (and talking to my local breeder) we've agreed on frozen. The only problem is, the wife doesn't want them with our food so I agreed to get a freezer for our garage.
I just don't know what kind to get or how much money to spend. Any suggestions?

Freezer for feeder mice suggestions
Get a tupperware container and keep them in there, in your freezer. Buying a separate freezer for rats for ONE snake is a huge waste of money and space. Especially since she obviously wouldn't let you use the garage freezer for storing extra food lol

I can't do that unfortunately. And yeah she said I could store my food out there too lol. I was thinking like a 60 dollar one from Walmart or something?

That sounds good to me. I personally keep mine in a mini freezer in my garage that I got literally for free and just fixed up a little. You don't need anything fancy, just something that'll keep them frozen!

Is there an introduction page to these forums?

Re: Freezer for feeder mice suggestions
Here's a little mini freezer that's been going strong for me for my four BPs: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . I'm sure it'll suit your needs perfectly as well. It's gone up about $20 since I got it, but it's still a pretty good price for a great freezer only unit.

I'm going to get a small chest freezer, it's like 3 cubic feet or something for like $200. Yea it's probably a waste for three snakes but I plan on getting more when I get back in August. Even so you can still use it for other frozen stuff as well so that way it's not a complete waste.

Just a thought on the location of your freezer. If you're anywhere that gets extremely hot in the summer, you might want to put the freezer somewhere other than your garage (guest room? ). That tends to be the hottest place in the house, and it will constantly be fighting to keep cool (wasting energy). Larger freezers can handle that location easier, because they tend to have more stuff (thermal mass) inside them to maintain temps.
