I've cites many research peer review journal articles here. Haven't had a mod say anything to me yet. But I quoted everything and used MLA formatted citations. So the kind written in formal papers.
For a magazine,
Last name, First name. "Article Title." Magazine Title. Date Month Year Published: Page(s). Print.
