New dragon! Meet Faranth.
I'm retiring my old girl, Wyrwrenth from educational programs and started looking around for a dragon to take her place a little while ago. Today, at Repticon Chicago, I picked up this little girl from Tundra Dragons. She's a hypo translucent leatherback but is pet only as she's a slow grower. That's fine with me as she's friendly and gorgeous! Got her home and she immediately ate and laid on her basking log. Following in the Pern footsteps, she's named Faranth (one of the original queens who were smaller than the later dragons). Her body is in shed but she's also 7 months old. She should be about a foot long by now but you can see how tiny she still is from the second picture.

Ball Pythons: 1.1 Pastave (Regulus and Ceti), 0.1 Albino (Aria), 0.1 Lesser (Daenerys), 0.1 Mojave (Sangria), 1.0 Enchi Pastel (Declan), 0.1 Normal (Sydney), 1.0 Lesser pos. het Clown/Pied (Loki), 1.0 het Clown pos. het lavender albino (Liam), 0.2 het Clown (Cara and Milly)
Corn Snakes: 1.0 Blizzard (Flurry)
Other: 0.1 Bearded Dragon (Faranth), 0.1 Russian Tortoise (Henry), 1.1 Dogs (Floppy and Lucy), 2.1 Cats (Jack, Brando, and Godiva), 1 Very Understanding Husband

Thanks! They said she was eating there too but just wasn't growing. Since they aren't sure what might be going on with her, though she was going to be a breeder, they didn't want to risk her health or babies with the same issue. The last month or so, she's almost doubled in size so I'm hoping that whatever caused it in the beginning isn't affecting her anymore. Either way, she'll be well fed and loved here even if she never gets overly large.

She's cute.
Have you decided that she still needs to fend for herself against the cat?

Not at that size and we'll see how her personality develops. She has met all the cats but only while on my shoulder and she's a bit nervous to say the least. At this point, I won't stress her now that I know it makes her uncomfortable and won't try introductions again until she's settled in and got some size after her initial reaction. We'll see if it changes and if not, then no worries, she stays upstairs. Wyrwrenth was much more aggressive, even at this age, so for now, Faranth's got a nice large tub in the reptile room where she's got some peace and quiet to settle in and grow. Each dragon is different and I'm going to guess with the way she's acted so far, she'll be one of those sweet, cuddly dragons that will probably get the run of the reptile room instead of the downstairs. That's just fine with me as I spend quite a bit of time up there as well. She doesn't get free run of anything though until she's bigger and I see how her personality plays out. Also can't put her anywhere near Wyrwrenth as she has already shown a tendency to openly try and attack other dragons (tried a few years ago with my brothers dragon when I still thought dragons were more social creatures with each other). Cats, dogs, and kids don't bother her but apparently other dragons aren't allowed. Go figure...
So far, Faranth's settling in well, looking around, and eating like a horse. She's allowed other people to handle her and will sit on anyone's shoulder quite happily and take waxworms from them. Either way it goes, reptile room or downstairs, she's a sweetheart and will be a great pet along with an educational ambassador.
