It sounds to me like he's a perfectly normal baby ball python trying to get used to his new home.
You should see some of the creative things an adult will do to a new enclosure!
If he is trying to shed, you'll know it. His skin will be dull and wrinkly and loose, he'll look awful. The thing on his nose could easily be where he rubbed it trying to escape. All ball pythons do that to some degree when settling into a new home. It's usually nothing to worry about.
Keep an eye on him, but try not to worry too much, I'm guessing he's fine.
