    HELP snake wheezing

Whenever I took my almost year old carpet python out of his cage to hold him I heard wheezing every few minutes. It doesn't look like he is shedding anytime soon. I fed him two days ago and he bit me and I yanked back so I thought I rip one of his teeth out but I didn't find any teeth so I don't know what the problem is. I have him in a 10 gallon with an 8 watt heat mat and a 50 watt day bulb that's on for 12 hours . His warm side is about 85-87. I keep his humidity around 70%. I don't know what he has and how to fix it on my own because my parents would never spend money on him for a vet. What can I do to help him and how can I prevent this from happening again.

Without knowing anything about your snake. My carpet (adult) is a very noisey snake she huffs an hiss when being picked up an if you redirect her shell get huffy an then keep roaming. Im saying this because it can sound kind of wheezy and from what I've been told most carpets are like that. So not sure if that helps you any but I know when I first got her an heard it I was worried bout it an that's what I was told

I am not familiar with carpets but I am sure someone will answer you here soon.
You might need to up the temps on the hot side, lso How are you regulating the heat mat?

If your animal he wheezing and if you are worried (in other word it's not a piece of stuck shed and you are not mistaking hissing for wheezing) there is only one thing to do, and it's to take him to a vet like any owner would with their dog or cat.

In the event the wheezing is due to a URI it needs to be treated, but first it needs to be assessed and a culture needs to be done to figure out what anti-biotic are better suited.

With pet ownership comes great responsibility and vet care when needed or worried is one of them.

According to the caresheet your humidity is high. http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...a-spilota-sp-)

If you start seeing other signs of RI a vet trip will be required. It will not be what I consider cheap. Probably over $200.

You might want to talk to your parents to see how many odd jobs you will need to do to get the money.

Oo wow ya missed the humidity of 70% part. Get some more ventilation in there, mines hovers around the 50% mark and will spike if I mist her, I only mist when in shed tho and I also offer a bowl large enough to soak in.

    HELP snake wheezing

It turns out it is his "purr". I took him to the vet and she didn't find anything and said its just something he does when he coils. Lol there's $65 down the drain

Most/many things we learn in life cost us something. I'm happy to pay $65.00 for the peace of mind of knowing all is well.
