    Smile Hi, I'm new...

... and I am addicted to tarantulas and snakes. Currently my husband and I collectively have 13 tarantulas and 5 snakes (4 corns and a BP). I've only had my BP for a little over a month, but he's been a delightful addition to the family. He is a non-genetic granite pastel. He has a bit of a "cantankerous old man" personality. He likes to hiss at me and be snooty when I am trying to be helpful, like when I'm removing his poo and filling his water dish. My husband now wants a baby BP of his own.

Welcome to the forum, and hope you enjoy your time here.

That is a good size BP you've got and hopefully in time with handling he won't even hiss at you anymore.

I find the hissing kinda endearing. Once I pick him up, he's fine. My husband and I love to handle him, but we do try to give him his alone time as well.

I started out with an older BP because I read all the rumors about how difficult they can be, then I was all overwhelmed by how much bigger everything was in comparison to my juvie corn snake... bigger prey, bigger poops, gallons of urine... but I adjusted. I also fell in love with his pattern and his eyes. I wanted a cool-looking snake, but not an expensive morph or a breeder; he fit all my requirements. (There also were no normals at the reptile expo he came from, except for "het for" ones that were pricier than a regular normal.)
