what snake and or herp likes being handle the most
What snake and or herp in your opinion likes interacting with their human the most, I know most snakes only tolerated being handled, but has anybody ever come across a snake or herp that actually wants to be handled, or shows off? Or do you have a snake and or herp that is not like most of its species, and actually likes to be held? Also on a short note i thought herpetology was the keeping of snakes and reptiles, and i know some people keep frogs as well, are frogs counted as part of the herp hobby , considering they are not reptiles, they are amphibians?
i know the truth...shhh...big brother is watching

I don't think any herp "likes" being held, as to herpetology it's the study of reptiles and amphibians. As to a reptile that's more likely to "like" being messed with I would have to say a box turtle, I've seen a few that are just plain friendly. Hope this helps a little.

I used to have a stupidly friendly RES, but I think he just knew handling meant he got to visit the food tank.
Though he did give the same satisfied face birds do when I rubbed the sides of his head. He totally leaned into it.

Hmm, I think it's all projecting, BUT our beardie seems comfortable being held. He does snuggle up on you, though I know it's the warmth he's after...not me in particular. We also have a leo that seems to want to be held. Her eyes follow you around the room and she comes to your hand. She probably just likes the stimulation, the exploring...again, probably doesn't care that it's us. The rest tolerate our handling.
Having said all of that, I think it's GOOD to project! I think personifying these guys gives you a deeper connection with them, which ultimately leads you to wanting to take excellent care of them. I would think that a reptile keeper that looks "human" personality traits in their animals is likely to treat them humanely. Although, I'm sure there are plenty of keepers who just see them as animals and that also translates to excellent care because they respect them.

Re: what snake and or herp likes being handle the most
All my turtles and snakes enjoy their heads and chins being rubbed/petted.
To more closely answer your question, I don't think any reptiles I've seen ever really enjoy being handled but the ones I noticed which have tolerated it the most are Bearded dragons and Uromastyx. Both are docile and will stay very calm while being handled or are out of their home habitat.

My beardie definitely asks to be let in and out, and although I don't think she really enjoys *me* per-say, she definitely knows that to get the things she enjoys, she has to go through me. Example: Head scratches! And dinner!

Re: what snake and or herp likes being handle the most
That's a great question I've asked myself and although I haven't been able to acquire one yet the Eastern or the Texas Indigos are known for developing a high level of alertness and intelligence that makes them bond with there owner. Even to the point that when you come around it will come out of its hide and want to be held. You can watch some videos with owner that will describe the personal connection between them and there snake. Take a look hope you find what you're looking for.

My snake knows that when he gets fed he goes in a different container. So when he's hungry he comes out and tries to nose his way out of the tank.
Then when input him in the other container he automatically begins nosing around for the rat that he knows is coming...I like I think he enjoys me taking him out for dinner

In my experience, most general reptiles simply tolerate being handled.
That being said, there are certain individuals (because each animal has its own personality) that I've personally owned that really do seem to like coming out of the cage to be handled. I used to have a super dwarf reticulated python that would literally crawl out of the tub and onto my arm (and I had to fight with him to get him back in at the end of the handling session). Then I had another, older super dwarf retic who was a holy terror to get out of the cage.
Reptiles aren't domesticated like a dog is, so usually their default is to simply tolerate being handled at best, but you do get some with more fearless personalities, which are going to be the most likely to "want" to come out. It's all pure chance.
