    New Coi Pond

I'd be more worried about cats than birds.

    And where are the pictures?!

    New Coi Pond

Haha I'll get them in the morning! I got them minutes before I had to get ready for work. And I THINk it's far enough down from the rocks that cats won't get to them. My neighbor has had one for years and never had any problem.

The most expensive Koi ever sold went for $2.2 million dollars. Owning a prized Koi is a symbol of status in Japan and champion Koi go for around $100,000.
This is the $2.2 million Koi named Alexandria. She was the 2008 All Japan Grand Champion, owned by Andrew Fillipowski from the USA according to a quick search. I have no idea how they would crown a champion of being a fish though.

I used to have a small pond with some 8" Goldfish and small Koi. Two separate times I walked out to find an 8" Goldfish eaten almost entirely most likely by raccoon.

Koi fish look awesome always thought that. Didn't know how big of a status they were in Japan. An you make a fish crown an carefully place it on the head and bam you crowned a fish

Ornamental fish are judged on color, pattern, conformation, and quality.

Some are more rare than others.

I recall reading in my Companion Animal Biology text book a few years ago that it was illegal to own certain mutations because only the Imperial family could back in Feudal Japan.

Very neat. I want to one day have a BIG koi pond. I love the butterfly koi, though many don't consider them proper koi.

That looks great. I'd love to do something like that myself, but I'd be tempted to put a turtle in it. Then I'd have to figure out a fence of some kind so they don't walk away. Then I'd also have to figure out how to keep the raccoons out, and what do you do when it rains a lot and it overflows? Sounds like a lot of work but I'd still like to try it some day. Good Job.
