Best way to heat open room?

Hello, just a quick question I'm getting ready to move my BPs soon and the room they're going in is pretty cool(anywhere from 62-69 degrees). It doesn't have doors, would the best way to heat the room be a large space heater? The rooms about the size of an office/computer room.

The only way to heat a room like that is to heat the entire house/apartment, or install doors (or hang heavy blankets over the doorways). Simple physics, the heat won't stay in just that room with nothing to hold it in. You should look at a different room for your collection.

I'm sorry, yes doors will be installed eventually. Just not for another couple months or so, and can't really wait that long to move my collection. So heavy blankets, and a space heater in the room will work temporarily? I plan on testing everything out before I actually move my snakes.

That's my best guess. You'll just have to test it out and see what temps you maintain. The type of space heater will make a difference, too (especially on your power bill). I suggest an oil-filled radiator heater, rather than the "standard" blower-type heater. Always use an independent thermostat, also, not just the pre-installed one in the heater.

First thing I would suggest is insulate the room to maximize your heating efficiency. You can do this by blocking vents, sealing windows with those plastic insulators over the window or just put up thick curtains. Make sure the door to the room doesn't have any noticeable drafts coming through. This can be fixed by putting a piece of plastic and sealing the bottom and top of the door with it.

Second, get a space heater hooked up to an appropriate thermostat like a ranco or johnson tstat. From there you can adjust your power to low on the tstat to save yourself some electricity.
