We've only done one clutch so far but everything went fine. Used equal mix of Vermiculite and water. No diffuser just put the eggs in the substrate. We used Press N Seal. Didn't even put the lid back on the tub. We just set it upside down on top so that we could set the T-stat probe on it. Opened the P&S every 4 days for air exchange and then more often towards the end. They pipped on day 56. Our second clutch should be dropping in about a week or so. Just keep everything stable and you should be fine. Good luck

you could always use a small towel to put over her. if an egg rolls out, it'll be ok. had many move and they hatched just fine.

Wouldn't it just be easier to spend 2 bucks on an egg tub that seals without the need for press-n-seal? No need for the press-n-seal, no need to worry about water dripping, no need to worry about tilting the egg boxes. It's stressful enough watching the eggs sitting there for 56 days...why add to that stress?

I see these threads pop up every year and I can't help but wonder why people make it so difficult. Mixing all kinds of substrates, cutting up light diffusers, sealing up egg boxes (and then drilling air holes ), etc...

Rubbermaid egg box + a little Hatchrite = no worries...

I agree except hatchwrong never goes in my tubs, lol

It seems weird to use press n seal and deal with all that other non-sense when a locking lid tub seals up so nicely.
I do add air holes for ventilation to keep the humidity down in my tubs in my tubs but once I put eggs in the inc I forget they exist until they pip.

I don't think it is necessary unless you have humidity issues.

I kind of went the opposite way and started putting 4-6 small holes in the lids of the last 10 clutches or so.

Don't ever use Press and seal. I lost 2 eggs this year b/c it gets too wet!!!
