Finally got to line breed. Looking decent so far.

I posted alittle while back a photo of a baby deceased about ten days before hatch, mostly cause it was a shame considering how outrageous the pattern was.
the rest have since come out all healthy and all but one shed.

    002 by SarielWatson, on Flickr

theres two like this one, one has yet to shed.

    002 by SarielWatson, on Flickr

one of the more interesting normal, All of them have that deep black though the other two have more neck pattern so the affect isnt as dramatic. The "squiggles" varies.

    006 by SarielWatson, on Flickr

Patterns normal, but that color is killer. This is after the first shed.
Still worth keeping around and test breeding. Ive been told by a few people they look very much like Tricks so I sent out a few emails to some breeders. Going to toss YB into it next season to see if more similarities pop up.

Pairing is a normal female back to her son that I picked up in a package deal a few years ago. The son looks like the classic jungle thats been proven to be non genetic, but I figured it was worth mucking with anyway since many of her hatchlings have carried on that same pattern to degrees.

I'm to hear back from people experienced with the Trick gene and a few other experienced breeders with far more years under their belts on whether its possibly the Trick gene, something else, or just a very strong pattern influence without being genetic. The cynic in me is saying I will have to hold back everything for atleast one more year before I know for sure. lol.

Looks to me like you got something going on there: Broken patterns, high yellows etc. I'd keep going with it if i were you. If not, throw that male my way, will ya? LOl

Im already putting together plans for next years pairings. I have atleast two females up to size plus the pastel male. May get another female at size, but shes still fairly small. we'll see.
YB is definitely happening, hoping to get an adult female to put with the male, but finances will dictate that. worst case a male to the founding dam. Likely working pinstripe, mojave, maybe fire as well.
Whether or not I release any depends on what comes back with the emails I sent out. Though to be honest even if Gary says they are not Tricks I will likely price them in the same manner because I dont mind holding everything back till we see what pops out next year. Worst case I have a bunch of pretty babies that are alittle older and will sell faster. lol

Thanks everyone for the kind words, its only been two years, but feels alittle longer with something like this. There were points I nearly just sold the entire project off on the cheap because I figured it was nothing.

Couple more pictures of the poss combo pastel. Taken outside after sunset so very indirect light, I feel the pictures are very accurate though.
Might have to take him out in the afternoon and see just how much he pops

I finally got around to making a photo timeline of the project.

Starting with the founding female and her son <a few comparison shots of the pastel combo son with this seasons pastel combo female> and going through the next couple generations.

Its been a neat project to work with. I'll be very interested in watching it progress with someone who can better afford to breed it out.
