New carpet python, what is it?

Picked up a teeny little hatchling at the Hamburg show, from a clutch of tigers but I have no idea what morph he or she is, so is this just a standard jungle then? Quick pic taken before shedding but will have new (better ) ones tomorrow!

I love the lil squirt already, totally different personality than ball pythons!

If it is from a tiger clutch it would be a coastal or coastal cross, not a jungle cute little worm though!

Aaah ok got it I'm not real up on the morph names and hybrids etc yet, may get into breeding them later but for now this is just a pet. I do like the jaguars though, that's next on the list ...Maybe getting one in August!

The thing with carpets is there are three different characteristics or ways of classifying an animal, rather than just morphs like with ball pythons. There is subspecies, localities, and then morphs.

For example - if I purchase a Palmerston (locality) jungle, and bred it to a zebra (morph) (assuming the zebra was pure) all offspring would be pure jungles, some zebra morphs, and some showing the Palmerston locality trait of dorsal striping.

But, if I bred a Palmerston jungle with a jag (coastal morph), they would be no longer be pure jungles. Because jag is a different subspecies morph, so all the babies would be crosses.

IMO, the carpet world and breeding is a bit more complicated than the bps because you have 2 more variables to consider rather than just morph. I can't wait to start breeding carpets as much as I love the look of jags, I think I'll be staying pure jungle for quite a long time. Fun stuff, and definitely fun to read up on / learn about!

Jags can also come with wobbles kinda like a Spider BP. So if you do pick one up, keep that mind.
