I checked on this girl last night and I noticed that she was pretty swollen in her abdomen and her tail looked thinner than normal. I thought I might have seen the start of an ovy so I told myself I would check her in the morning. So I did. She's even more swollen. I do believe she's ovulating. Thoughts?
This first picture was taken around midnight. I pulled her out from under the paper to get a better look at her, so she wasn't sitting in this position before the picture was taken.
I took this second picture about 9:30 this morning and I did not move her. This was how I found her. She does have water, it's just under the newspaper. She was sitting under it so I just flipped up the paper so it's hiding her water.
I started noticing this girl swelling almost three weeks ago. I knew it wasn't an ovy so I talked it up to being a building swell. Then we had the whole issue about whether or not she was going to lay eggs (see this thread: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...s-on-this-girl ). However, when she didn't lay while I was gone on vacation, I knew she hadn't ovulated. I posted a similar picture on the facebook group and Jerry (snakesRkewl) looked at the picture and predicted 2-3 weeks until ovy. Well, it's just under 3 weeks since I started noticing the swelling.
I know that was long winded, but do I finally have my first ovy? This normal (Tabitha) is 2600g and was bred to a black pastel from October to January and then with a Lesser until two days ago. There was also a pewter thrown in there, but I never saw a lock and there's been question as to whether or not he's a sneaky breeder or a dud.
Yes, I'm an overexcited snake momma.![]()
