Any pointers for someone just getting into yaks? We'll (wife and I) will mostly fish small ponds/lakes and slow moving rivers. Usually just fishing for smallmouth/largemouth bass.

I love to fish, it is almost as big of a hobby for me as the snakes. Great to see others on here!

I really love it, I like to tell people that it gives the fish a fighting chance of taking me down with them.

What I went with was a kayak that was billed as a 'fishing' kayak. It's a little wider and more stable, mine has a concave bottom which also increases stability. It's not as fast as some other kayaks but I've been in some pretty rough water with it and felt pretty safe. One nice thing is the portability. One of my favorite lakes has no boat landing but I can just carry my kayak in and launch from the shore. It's nice when you don't have to compete with dozens of other boats.

Sounds a lot like the yaks we've been looking at. I prefer avoiding the crowds and like to hit the smaller ponds/creeks/rivers, etc...a yak should be just the ticket!

I don't really have any pics of the fish I caught this day. Haven't gone lately, but this was from about a year ago.

Here's one with my little man (Ozzy) and my Grandpa. It was kinda tough keeping Ozzy in the boat. He REALLY wanted to go in after the bobbers.

This is one of the fish I caught.

Since it was the smallest one I caught that day, he got to eat it. (Don't worry - all of the barbs were cut off the fish so it was safe for him).

    Little fishin' dog! Haha.

Cute. I've not seen a chocolate pom.
