What to get next... Need suggestions !
So, my AP rack is ordered and should be here august, I have money for a herpstat 1 set aside to order that soon, and I just ordered 5+ months worth of food for everyone I have currently. Now with 5 balls to go into the rack, and the rack being 7 levels, I'm left with these empty levels.... whatever will I do?
So I'm contemplating my next purchase and currently have $200 sitting around that could go towards one. Part of me would really like to try a different species. I have been looking at kings - they come in so many different colors and patterns and for 200 or under I pretty much have my pick - but really have no idea what I'd want. Suggestions?
Another obvious possibility is saving a bit more, maybe up to 400-600 dollars and get another female ball - either a single gene 100% het clown(if there's something non-pastel, non-pin, non-spider in that range, idk), or something non-clown that's still awesome? I have been loving me some fire. Maybe something else, though? My current collection is in my signature.
I'm also WIDE open to suggestions of other species that preferably meet some/most of these requirements:
- MAX at ~6 feet or less
- Can live in my 15/32 quart rack for at least a couple years comfortably
- Similar temp requirements to ball pythons: Ambient in high 70s, hot spot ~90
- $250 or less
Thanks for any replies and suggestions.

I'd vote for a hognose for a different species, those guys are cute and awesome!
For a female ball, I'd go for a fire het clown, enchi het clown, or yellowbelly het clown

A Cal King can live in a 32q it's whole life and they come in a whole host of colors and patterns. I've got a banded "desert phase" Cal King and a pair of aberrant Coastals. Mine are all tame, but do have outrageous feeding responses. I love them!

I really love your suggestions, but do you think I could find a nice fire het clown or enchi het clown for 600? I have considered hognose, but they start so tiny! I guess I could get an older one.

Thanks for the input! Part of me is definitely leaning towards a King at the moment.

I adore both my Hognose and my Cali King. The King wants things a little cooler than the balls or a hognose, though, so keep it in mind.

Hognoses are just so cute and their attitudes are hilarious!
They do start of tiny, but they are great to work with
I'm sure you could definitely find a fire het clown or enchi het clown for $600, just wait for them to hatch this season
Good luck!

Get a pair of Woma's. Very similar in care to ball pythons.

I think that you defintiely need to keep care requirements in mind when you're deciding. BP conditions are typically way too hot for a colubrid. An IJ Carpet might get slightly over 6', but has pretty similar husbandry needs. Womas are definitely cool, too.
