    Sexing, anyone have a guess?

Hey I was just wondering if anyone had an educated guess on the sex of my BP? I've heard that you can sometimes make a good guess based on length and width of the tail but I am just getting into pythons and am not used to the comparisons yet! This one is a bit bigger than a hatchling and I'm nervous to try popping, I don't have probes so I figured I'd ask the experts before hunting down someone local to help me out!

Also, do you know if someone at a Reptile Expo might be willing to help? I'm in PA and am planning on going to the Hamburg Show on Saturday!

    Thanks!

Here is a photo, let me know if anyone has a guess! thanks!!

Re: Sexing, anyone have a guess?

Without popping or probing, it is very difficult to be sure. If you google search popping..there are a lot of good videos out there on youtube etc on how to do it. It just takes practice.

Do you have a photo of the whole snake? Its really hard to tell by looking, but sometimes you can tell the a female from a male just on the body shape.

How big is the snake? A weight would be preferable.

Here is a full body picture, and I dont have a scale handy but if it's helpful at all, I took a photo in my hand for size reference?

I couldn't be certain. Looks like you have a juvenile... I'd guess around 600g or so?

I can usually tell adult females from males.. but at that age they kinda all look the same

Try to find someone in your area who can pop or probe! I did an instructional video on probing that is stickied in the husbandry section. But that doesn't really help if you don't have any probes!

I know there are many species of snake that you can sex just by the length of the tail but ball pythons are not one of them. I can 'guess' that it's a female, but without popping or probing there's really no way to tell.
