Snake Mites question
I have a question about treating snake mites. I have been researching the nix method of treatment, but currently have some store bought mite treatment. But before treating I wanted to ask about how to treat the rack system? I have 2 wooden home made racks, do I spray the solution on the racks them selves? What about the flexwatt that is taped down to the back of the racks? If unplugged and than sprayed and left to air dry is it a dangerous to plug the flexwatt back in? I can bleach, rinse with scalding hot water and let air dry the tubs for the racks, but am unsure of the racks themselves. Thanks everyone.

Snake Mites question
I had one instance of mites - I sprayed all of my snakes regardless of visible mites with Reptile Spray, and my whole rack and surrounding carpet down with PAM, avoiding direct spray onto the flex watt tape. I followed up twice after two weeks and them four weeks with the reptile spray on the snakes and one month later with the PAM on surrounding areas. I haven't had any mites since. I really think that preventative or proactive measures will save you from having to try and fight an outbreak later. best of luck!!

For sure like KMG mentioned, you can spray Everything down with the Reptile Spray... It really works! Not sure if that's what you have or not, but you can buy it at most good pet stores and its natural, safe, and it does the job. Good luck with the mites, I hope you get them eradicated!!

Well, ugh. I treated all of my snakes, and bleached all the tubs and sprayed my racks and moved them to a new room and I do see what looks like a lot of dead mites, still seeing live ones. ugh. Do I wait and treat again in 2 weeks or should I do it sooner?

Reptile Spray can be used every three days but it doesn't sound like you went that route.

Snake Mites question
PAM (provent-a-mite) works well for the enclosures. In the very beginning I obtained a BP with mites and this did the job. It is for use only on the enclosures (not snake) and you need to follow the directions.
