Hydra has what I think is an eycap. She shed her skin about 2 weeks ago and she still can't seem to get the rest of it off her head and one of hers eyes is now completely white and I doubt she can see? She is extremely head shy and I was wondering How do i go about getting this off of her. Someone told me to pin her and use a cutip and water or a cutip and baby oil. I have nver pinned a snake,,, so can someone help me?

    Ha-Ha!

well i dont think its neccessary to pin...if its white then is probably already detached. give it a bath and/or a moist hide. if that doesnt take care of it in a few days then you should think more about actually pinning it and using a cuetip.
or you could jsut cut to the chas ei guess. to pin....while your holding it, kinda let you hands get further up its neck so its a little moe comfortable with your hand being close to its head. then wheil its cralling on some surface (preferably a softer one liek carpet) grab it behind the neck with your thumb and middle finger. now you have you pointer finger on top of the head for a little control. (be careful you dont push on the top of its head when you go to grab). hold the neck with the rest of your finger so she cant lash that part around and possibly injure herself. now you can do whatever it is you needed to do. be careful....
anyone else have anything to add to "how to pin the snake?"

shoot a syringe full of vodka into a rat, feed it to the bp, then do the operation while she's passed out!

Ok, so i officially suck at pinning snakes. I did it though, and i couldn't get the eye cap at all, and then I slipped and got bit.... So i think i might just let her try and get it on her own or I will take her to her vet. Damn, shes never bit me yet... There goes my roll...

Freak, I just dealt with the same problem yesterday, of course I dont know how much shed is still actually left on Hydra. But how I tackled this was to get my BP know what my intentions were by being so close to her head by lightly tugging at a part of the shed close to her head then letting her just "warm" up to you to help her finish the process. Time elapsed was around 3 hrs..but she rewarded myself with some close up pics....give and take relationship....lolol
