    Another thermometer question

    Been searching around for a few days, can't seem to find where people are putting probes for Ambient temps?

    Here is a pic of where my Humidity and Temp probes are;
    My thermostat is hooked to a dual night heat lamp and the probe is located behind the foam back wall; getting about 5 deg. difference between the Zilla thermo/hygro and the Hygrofarm Tstat probe readings.

    Also i have another Hygro T-stat set up on my UTH with the probe on top of the UTH under the GLASS. Not reading surface Temp on that hot spot, set for 94deg. Safe, yes?

    Its best to have the probes closer to snake level (cage floor). You can use hot glue or the like to attach the probe a couple inches from the cage floor. That way you know what the temp is where the snake will be crawling around.

    You can also just hang the probe in the cage leaving it dangle a couple inches from the floor. Doing it this way you can use tape to attach the wire to the back of the tank ON THE OUTSIDE.

    No, it may hit it while exploring but it poses no threat to your snake.

    For a cleaner look run the wire behind your foam background and cut a hole just big enough to have the probe sticking out just above the substrate. Then you can take fake plants and stick them in the foam above the probe so they hang down and conceal the probe.
