20 Gallon Tank Setup Complete [With Pics]

    Greetings again!!

Well, my first weeks of joining this forum have been well worth it. Thanks to y'all, I have successfully weathered my first shed, and have been able to establish a proper habitat for Mycroft.

I figured I'd take this opportunity to show the results of my 20 gallon setup (thanks to Kaorte and others without whose help I would have been lost).

To start, here is the original enclosure he was in; a 10 Gallon tank with 1 hide and a water dish

very pitiful, I know; but he was being housed in the same container he was purchased in by his previous owner...so it was an improvement.

He began to go through his shed last week, and again I wouldn't have made it without all y'all's help.
He finally shed yesterday morning; here are the results of that (lol)

I figured it was as good a time as any to get his new enclosure in order; so based on the recommendations of the forum I had gotten all the necessary supplies together during the shed week.

Here's his 20 gallon tank, with the heat pad attached via silver tape (such a wonderful thing...thanks guys for turning me on to the stuff)

And the "hot" side, covered with silver tape as well to allow for easy removal
Note the probe for the Hydrofarm Thermostat sandwiched between the glass and the UTH

I neglected to take pictures of the attachment method for the Accurite and its probe; I'll post more pics in about a month when I clean his tank.

And here's the finished product; 2 hides, Hydrofarm thermostat (not pictured), Accurite thermometer/hygrometer (hanging in the upper corner), water dish, and a heat lamp (currently not being used, as the ambient temperature is sufficient for the cold side.

I think Mycroft enjoys his new home; here's what he's been up to today (after his first night in the new tank)

I havent been able to keep him still enough to grab any real good shots of him, but I'll post some pics in a few days in the Pics forum.

Thanks again for all your help; you've all been a real encouragement to me in my first few months of snake ownership.

    So, quick question

I just got back from a vacation, so the AC has been off in the house.

The current hot temp is 90, and the current low temp is 82 with 45% humidity

According to the thermometer, the highest the temps got was 100 (hot) and 90 (cool)

Will these new higher temperatures be a problem??

It sounds like your mentioning the ambient temps that your Acrurite recorded, I would recommend keep the AC on while your not home or at least setting the AC to a temp that will prevent your ambient temps from getting this high, 100 degrees is too hot.

I don't think that's too bad. Really make sure he has a cool spot to go if he needs to get out of the heat. I figure in Africa it gets hotter than 100 sometimes, but the balls go underground to stay cool. Just keep that in mind.
