    What kind of Boa

I was wondering if anyone could identify this boa for me. I picked her up in a combo deal but I honestly don't know enough about them. I was told she was a "Red Tail" and I know that term is used broadly. She is super nice so I think I am going to keep her so I want to know what I have. Sorry the pic is dark. I forgot to take pictures before I put her in her cage and don't want to disturb her till next week. I paid $70 for her. Did I get a good deal?[IMG][/IMG]

Looks lik a BCI to me. It is a "red tail boa" but there are different types of red tails. BCI is the most common I believe. BCI Is the abbreviation for the scientific name, Boa Constrictor Imperator.

I'd say you got a good deal. I think she's a common columbian, BCI.

Yup, normal Colombian BCI. Very nice looking snake!

I personally think you got a fairly good deal. She is not special, genetically speaking, if she's a normal, but she has good size to her and she appears to have good body weight and looks healthy. Normal Colombians typically run $40-60 as babies. So a sub-adult at $70 is pretty decent.

**Note - I said she wasn't "special" but I meant that only from a genetics viewpoint (in other words, she's not a high-value triple gene morph). I think normals are gorgeous and very valuable to a breeding program. No offense intended!

Nice pickup, and yes you got a good deal due to her size. It's a Normal Colombian BCI and if she's nice then that's even better. Once she's settled in and with regular handling she should stay that way. Just on question, how sure are you it's a female?
