Question About Eating Between Rats and Mice?

I have heard on here rats may have more nutritional value than mice but I just wanted to confirm it. I am currently feeding Luna (my female Albino BP) mice and the breeder she came from was feeding her rat pups. They are both F/T. Does it really matter which one I feed her? Thanks for the help everyone!

Re: Question About Eating Between Rats and Mice?

I do believe rats are better. A local snake (balls and boas) breeder once told me it was like sirloin steak vs hamburger at every meal. LOL But it is easier to feed rats from the start because some snakes get hooked on mice and you can't get them to switch to rats so once they are bigger your feeding multiple mice at each feeding where as you could feed one single rat of the correct size for you snake.

Question About Eating Between Rats and Mice?

I personal think rats are a better source of food. Our female BP's that eat rats grow faster then ones that eat only mice. Also you need to look at the financial cost, one small/medium rat vs 3 jumbo mice each week for an adult BP. Just my opinion. Thanks

I dont know if they are a better source of nutrition, but they are more mass. Rats are larger than mice. My large 3000+gram females would need to eat a lot of mice. Instead they eat 1 large rat. It just seems to make more sense to me.
