Does it restrict the snake's ability to eat and/or move freely? With kinks, those two factors are the biggest things to look for. If it can do both of those it will likely be able to live a full and healthy life.
Breeding snakes with a kink is a different matter though, and IMO should not be practiced because of the possibility that the kink is genetic in origin.

Agreed - unless you know for SURE that the kick was caused by an injury, which can and does happen. I have a little female GTP that has a tiny kink up on her neck. This was caused by an injury when she was a neonate and has been documented carefully by her breeder (and the breeder has an excellent reputation and is someone I trust implicitly). The kink is high enough that it should not ever interfere with eggs and is minor enough that it doesn't affect her eating, perching, moving, etc. As such, I'll breed her. But obviously, this is a special circumstance.
The short answer to your question is, if the snake is eating, moving, and defecating alright, then the kink should not ever be a problem for him!
