What are these little specs? (They aren't mites.)
My little guy has been getting these scaly flaks on him for about 2 weeks now. I've taken him to the vet, but it didn't bring up any results. They guy was as confused as I was on what it was.
My guy had mites about 3 weeks ago, I gave him a Mineral oil / water bath to get ride of em. (it got rid of all em.) but this problem popped up soon after I did this.
The vet figure it was too much lubrication, thus the top layer of the scales falling off.
He suggested I give him warm ish baths, which I have been giving him. but no luck.
Anyone know what this is? picture below.

Also, I don't think it's scale rot, or the vet would of picked it up I hope.

Hi,
The mineral oil is causing the very top layer of the scales to flake off individually.
It should correct itself with time and a good shed.

One my rescues came that way; after his first shed, it never happened again.
I would stop bathing him. Soaking doesn't really do any good unless you're trying to get an already bad shed off, and if you're soaking pre-shed, it can make the shed go badly because it strips the natural oils out of the skin.
Just keep the humidity up around 50-60% and hopefully next shed cycle will resolve it.

I agree with derek, looks to me like you've stripped off the top layer of scales with the mineral oil. Just wait for the next shed and it should correct itself.
