    Albino BP Not Shedding Properly...

It is her first time shedding for me and it has been going on 5 days now where the shedding is coming off VERY SLOW she is all dried out and wrinkly but the head... I got some Repti Shedding Aid and massaged some in to her skin and it seemed to help a little, what else can I do to help her shed easy? Thanks everyone!

Your humidity isn't high enough. Put her in a damp pillowcase and back into her enclosure and let her try to get some of that off. I don't like that shed-aid and I think it's junk. A warm soak and a washcloth or pillowcase usually does the trick.

    Hi,

You want to boost your humidity.

We also have a sticky that will help.

What type of enclosure is she kept in? What are your temps and humidity like? My first BP shed absolutely AWFUL until I got him into a sterilite tub. Bits and pieces everywhere. He just shed today and it came off all in one piece. If temps and humidity are proper, try giving her a nice warm soak for a while. My BP's love it and it really helps for those odd sheds.

Ok I just gave her a good soaking and I believe I will start misting her more. I use a lamp to heat could that be drying out the air?

Could be. I don't use lamps personally as BP's get most of their heat from their belly. Are the ambient temps in the room so low that you need to use the lamp to get them up? Ambient temps should be between 79-82 with a hotspot of 86-91. Generally you can obtain this without the use of a heat lamp.

True, my ambient temp is between 79-82 degrees F... What should I use for a hotspot? I have a UTH should I use that?

Yes, you will need an UTH and a thermostat to go with it (this is a MUST). You should make your hotspot no higher than 95* on the glass above it. With 1/2 inch of substrate, your hot spot will be 88*-90* which is great. The sticky Dr. Del posted is amazing, read through it. In order to modify your cage to prevent this from happening again, you need to get rid of that heat lamp. It sucks away your humidity. You can also cover most of the screen top with a damp towel, Plexiglas, glass, foil, or foil tape. Those will help to trap in humidity.
