    Random aggression?

I have a 2008 male Mojave BP that I got a few months back for breeding purposes. When I first got him he was pretty awesome. Very tame although a little shy. The last couple weeks though he's...well frankly he's been a jerk. Every time his cage is opened he flips out and curls into a super tight ball whether he's under his hide or not. He doesn't hiss but today I picked him up and he seemed fine. Wasn't balled up and wasn't moving around super fast, just sorta exploring and chilling. I ran my hand down his body and as I got to his tail he randomly tags my hand real fast. Gave me quite a startle. He then proceeded to coil up in strike mode and start going for my face every few seconds until I got him back in his enclosure. He tagged my hand once more and wrapped. Took me a minute to get him off and back in his cage. I'm at a loss. All of my other BP's are very happy and don't seem stressed in the slightest. All are kept the same way. This one though is starting to get out of hand. Also, he ate a medium rat three days go.

Perhaps lead on by breeding season? Sorry to hear that, sounds like a drag.

Haven't paired him yet no. Could it be that he senses ready females? My other male breeders aren't acting like this though.

What are your temps and setup? I know you said its the same for all your snakes, but can we get some specifics?

Adults are kept in 41qt sterilite tubs. 82f cool side and 87-89f warm side. Two identical black hides from reptile basics are kept in there (snakes fit nice and snug, hides aren't too large) as well as an appropriate sized crock bowl of water (large enough for snakes to soak entire body if desired) in the middle. Substrate is paper towels.
