Can he not be banned from here?

Why did he break any of our TOS?

We don't ban people just because we do not like them or some members decide they do not like them, some forum may do so but we do not, we ban people based on the infractions they have collected.

Look, I've never met you Joe, or even heard about you til an hour ago.... for all I know people might be over-reacting, like you say.
BUT
There are people who I respect HIGHLY on here who do not condone or like your behavior or your posts, so, because I don't know you and because of the people I respect, I do not like you or your posts.
So I doubt they are over reacting like you think.

Trying to make yourself sound like a respectable person actually does the opposite when nobody thinks your words have meaning.
I don't really want to get into a fight.... but I do want to give you a peice of my mind.

From what I gather, you might have made a "joke" about cutting off a snakes head for being mean. Tell whatever kinds of jokes you want.. but if you expect people who LOVE these animals to find that funny.. you are kidding yourself!

I get where you are coming from.... those are the site principals, understandable....
I can't argue with that, because it's reasonably fair to all the members... and I can appreciate the policies.

Okay so I watched the video.

To me, this video did not represent the personality of a snake lover.

Joe, it is clear from your video that you really don't care about these animals. You only care for them until they bite you. That to me is just absurd. You are in the wrong business if that is what makes you give up an animal. These animals bite for a variety of reasons. If they bite you once it doesn't mean they are going to constantly munch on you. And even if they did bite you more than once, you would so easily just give them up? That just shows a lack of commitment to an animal that can live 20 years +

Also, why would you say in your video that its too cold outside?? Why would you admit that you are exposing them to temperatures that are not comfortable for the animals? Also, why would you take pride in "flipping" animals?

If that is the kind of person you want to be in this business, so be it. But know that many potential customers will be turned off from ever purchasing from you because of your "jokes" and the way you talk about your animals. It is just not professional and shows a general disrespect for these gorgeous animals.

I haven't watched it yet, I cannot find the video... but from what you described, I feel the same way as you do.
I can only gauge the severity of the video and it's contents based on the reactions of my fellow members, but from what they are saying and how they feel, I must inquire that I don't believe Joe should keep any reptile...

Perhaps not a BOI, but just a clear cut do not interact measure throughout the hobby.

Last but not least, these attacks against me are not based so much on principle than on a personal bias against me from another forum that I had belonged to last Winter. It's a small, insignificant forum of <200 members, and envious of the power of this forum's >30K members. It's also not a real forum per se, but more reminiscent of an infomercial, a photo gallery. In fact, only a dozen or so of its members are actually active there. And half of those are the site's sponsors themselves with their links at the top of the portal. The owners of that tiny gathering would like to claim that they "banned me for being rude" (if you read my posts there you will be hard pressed to find any rudeness). But truth be told I stopped using that forum when one day a Black-American friend of mine was visiting. That forum was on my screen and as she walked by it she stopped in her tracks and pointed out that an avatar contained a racial slur and a pic of a Black child. I was embarrassed and ashamed to be using that site and surprised that I had never noticed that before. I guess if I were a Black-American I'd be more attuned to prejudice. That was the last day I logged onto that group. To make matters even worse that avatar belonged an OWNER of that group!

I was banned from that group for my 1st post on here on THIS sub-forum! Simply add up the days between my last post on that forum and the day that I was supposedly "banned" and you will clearly see what I mean. Oh, and check out the racial slur there that I'm talking about, before they remove it.

That's it. Oh just one last thing: I usually have to meet people in person to get them so riled up. I guess I must be getting better with age

Let's clear the air here right now. You sir, were banned, by ME, from MY forum, for YOUR disrespectful and antagonistic behavior. I have never had to ban anyone before. You are the first and only. My forum is a very peaceful, easy going, family oriented place, and I will always do what I have to do to keep it that way. There are VERY very well respected individuals/keepers/breeders that are a big part of our place, most who will forget in their lifetime more than you will ever THINK you know. Before you were banned, I recieved multiple negative PM's in regards to you. Your constant jabs at keepers with larger collections and insinuations were tiring, and all you accomplished there was to aggravate a bunch of people. That and your constant criticism of others' animals soley based on the fact that they are not 'normals.' Never anything positive to contribute, rarely anything decent to say. Believe me, you being banned was not based on just the fact that you 'were not liked,' as that would be nonsense. It was soley based on your own actions. You keep trying to assault the integrity of my forum, but it means absolutely NOTHING to me, considering the source. Last but certainly not least, the avatar you speak of, belongs to my husband, whos MOTHER is African American, making him half African American himself. The avatar is not intended to be derogatory, it is of comedic nature. Your actions and behavior is what is causing folks to have the reactions they are having towards you. It's as simple as that. You are certainly no victim here. I'm no 'tough guy' either, but I would certainly not mind seeing you in person at a show, as I would have NO problem telling you what I think, in person, should the opportunity arise, though that would just be a waste of my time. I am glad you are portraying how you really are in your videos. I know I would NEVER want any of my animals to end up in your 'care' after what I know now. (Oh wait, that's right, all of my animals would be hideous in your book since they are not 'normals.') That's about all I have left to say on the matter.

I watched the video, and I find the "joke" distasteful, and I'm not exactly thrilled with having snakes that require a temp above 85 degrees outside on a "cool day".
In all honesty,
I could not find a problem besides what I mentioned above, he was gentle when touching the snakes and the only "roughness" was when he would touch thier heads. He made a tasteless joke, and had his snakes out in less than favorable condtions. Those are his only infractions I found in that particular video.

I took time and watched other videos of his, and again, in all honesty, I couldn't tind anything wrong with how he handled his snakes or with what he said. With having no prior knowledge of Joe, and having limited knowledge about Blood Pythons, I believe the reactions from the other members was blown out of proportion. He may have said or done something in the past to get under a few member's skin, but there was no abuse of the snakes and no scars and the snakes didn't fear him in the videos. He may not sound enthused or like a "snake lover" in his videos, but he certainly didn't sound intent on acting upon his "joke" and he didn't make the same "joke" twice. He voiced his love for the species, and love for the normal morph of the species... and never said anything negative about his snakes. Except for the one comment, or "joke".

I know I am contradicting myself in this post compared to my previous posts, but I just want to be fair, and give my honest outlook on the situation since I have now watched the said video in it's entirety, and other videos. While I am voicing a seperate oppinion about the video and situation at hand compared to the other users (and myself originally), I believe I am just being absolutely real and just with my oppinion and outlook about the video and his behavior and his ability to care for his snakes. I find nothing wrong, just a bad, senseless joke that got a bad reaction.

I appologize to my fellow members for my honesty, I'm sure a few of you won't appreciate my oppinion,
and I appologize to Joe... I reacted strongly before I even had a chance to judge the video for myself, which was unfair,
Sometimes someone's sense of humor doesn't get translated well with someone else's sense of humor, and while I don't find the joke funny, I don't find it to be a direct threat to the snake's life. Just a bad joke.
