Mine's an Eastern, he was a freak but is now a super calm sweetie.
I have to cup him to feed him because he won't strike or eat if i dangle or if its just laying in his viv...and he flips out when i stick him in but when i open it up and he has a full belly he plays it off like nothing happened.
Found him in my yard in late sept. Weather was staying cold, i think he was a late hatcher and he was so small he could get into a straw.
I had to split 1 day newborn pinkies in half because they were giant compared to him. Now he can eat a whole x-small pinkie by himself.
This guy is what really pushed me into collecting reptiles.
He is Punky Pie because he's an a%#hole when it comes to feeding. Very first reptile and the little jerk made me mutilate baby mice for his enjoyment.
Thought i would share

He's adorable! I love in northern coastal cali, and I'm hoping to catch myself a cali king one of these days. They're elusive little buggers, though. I love my little CB, Matthew. But what I really want is the challenge of a WC.
Okay, story about a WC milk- When I was a kid, I caught snakes like crazy at home in north eastern Kansas. I mostly saw garters and ring-necks, but one time, I found an adult central plains milksnake. Most gorgeous animal I've ever found in the wild. Well, I took it home and stuck it in a tank in my room and called it my own. I was eager, but 10 year old me didn't know a THING about keeping snakes. Two days later it vanished. I told my dad...but we both agreed to not tell my mom, who has a phobia of snakes. After awhile, we forgot about it. Until one morning a few months later, my mom screamed at the top of her lungs while cooking breakfast- the little guy had made his way into the kitchen and wedged himself between the wall and the stove. He was peeking his little head over the top, and watching her as she cooked. After apologizing profusely, my dad and I pulled out the stove, retrieved the milk, and freed him outside. Nicest snake ever. Never offered to hiss or bite. Was certainly a highlight of my childhood.

Lol nice. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, there is a challenge with the WC i hear.
I talk to some fellas on the consnake.net(com?) forums and they said it is really hard with the young ones.
The guy rescused a mother and 7 babies, it was late in the fall and very cold so he was gonna get them fed and fattened up for spring to release them.
He said he was only able to get the mother and one baby to eat, the rest died off unfortunatly.
That was in the hands of an experianced herper too.
So if you can get one and make it thrive it is very rewarding.
They have such a personality. He used to move super fast and be a handful just to hold but after a few months he got calm enough to where my kids could even hold him.
