    My Setup, Is It OK?

So I basically have a 20 gallon tank for my 140 gram baby girl Betty, and she seems fine for now... When do I have to upgrade to a larger tank? Say 30-55 gallon?

Everything looks good, But I would invest in some different hides. They really like the "rock cave" kind. Although it doesn't need to be a fancy pet store hide. It can be a plastic bowl with a hole cut in it.

You probably won't need to upgrade the tank size for at least a year. They actually prefer tight spaces.

    Are you using a UTH?

No, I heard those could burn your BP

If they aren't used with a thermostat, yes they can very well burn your snake! I use UTH's (flexwatt) with all my snakes, but I have the heat source controlled with a thermostat. I really like herpstats, but they are a little expensive. But worth it!

If you just use heat lamps, you might run into low humidity problems and your snake might have a bad shed

Your baby girl is so little! A 20 gallon should be good for quite a while. I bought a 10 gallon tank when I first got mine about 4 months ago. She was approximately the same size as Betty there. I bought it thinking "I'll get her a new home after I move in August, that seems like good timing." But man...they grow waaaay faster than I was expecting. I may have to upgrade sooner than I originally thought! 20 gallons should work for you for at least a year or so, I would think.

I have a "Granite Tower" like this http://www.reptilesupply.com/product...roducts_id=952 and my BP LOVES it. It is kind of tall for a BP enclosure, but I have kind of a non-traditional setup. Not all of them like to climb.....mine does...although he's not exactly the most graceful.

Basically as long as it's very dark, warm, and they can stuff themselves into it.....they'll be happier than a pig in.....a....pig house.

How big do they need to get before an upgrade from a 20 gallon to something bigger is in order?

I'd say around 1,000g you might want to move up to something bigger. Then they start too look kinda smushed in there.

When you upgrade, go for a PVC enclosure. it will be a little bit more expensive, but it will look cooler, and be less annoying to regulate temps/humidity. And it will be easier to clean! I have 3 boaphiles for my more space loving snakes, and they are awesome.
