I've been keeping BPs since '07 and the snake in question since '09. In all that time, I've only had a couple of sheds that required a soak to help the snake get them off. Nothing in my husbandry has changed. The snake in question (and all my BPs) are in a rack system. I use newspaper substrate.
But, all of a sudden, this snake has had 2 bad sheds in a row. The first one I thought was probably due to winter causing the humidity to be a little too low. I was able to help her get most of the shed off with a soak. The eye caps didn't come off though. I figured I'd just make sure she had some extra humidity and her next shed would fix everything.
No such luck. She went through her shed cycle again, and got nearly nothing off by herself. 2 soaks later, and I'd say there is still about 50% of the shed stuck on her. I'm not super experienced, but I'm not a total noob either, and I've never seen shed that is stuck this badly.
My biggest concern is the eye caps. I believe there are now 2 layers of retained eye caps.
Suggestions?
