    Here comes the shed!

    Hey guys

So I noticed a few days ago, my ball python had a slightly pink belly. As a few days passed, his belly became even more pink. I panicked and thought maybe I was burning him, but also thought yay, my first shed with my first snake ever! I don't know about you guys but i'm obsessed with checking temps and humidity over 5 times a day. I use a digital thermometer and a temp gun. I just love making everything perfect for my lil guy so, given that my temps are usually always perfect, I knew that I wasn't burning my baby. After a few days I noticed that his eyes were grey and milky, and his skin was very faded. I knew he is about to shed, so up my humidity goes! I use damp moss in tuppawear containers in his vivarium, along with mistings and wet towels on top of his tank. I was so relieved to find out that I wasn't burning him. I am so excited too, to go through my first shed with my first ball python. Here we go!

    Re: Here comes the shed!

Only 5 times a day!? I check on mine way too often. I am the definition of an obsessive mommy. ESPECIALLY during her shed cycles. I've only had her through 2 sheds, but both times I was constantly checking on her just to see if I could catch her in the act. The first time I noticed she was in shed, I was literally up and checking in on her every 30ish minutes...bahaha One evening I sat down to play a game...about 45 minutes passed, so I got up to check again...little bugger finished shedding in that time window. The second time, I left to get food and by the time I got back, she had completed her shed..again, without me being able to watch.
