    2012 female blood died unexpectedly

A 2012 female matrix that I purchased from the Tampa Repticon at the end of March was found dead today when I was checking on the animals. She refused her live rat pup on the 24th but didn't think anything of it.

She was in a shoebox tub with a hide, water bowl, crumpled newspaper, and some sphagnum moss. She was on newspaper substrate. The hot side was 89 and ambient was 78.

I found her belly up wrapped around her her hide. When I checked on her the day before yesterday she was alert and didn't look "off" at all.

I put her in a zip lock in the fridge and am going to take her for a necropsy tomorrow.

Any idea what could have happened?

That really sucks. Loosing an animal when everything seems good is hard.

Keep us posted and if you don't mind let us know how much the necropsy cost. Its been asked several times but guesses are always thrown out. It would be nice to know.

I just called and set up the necropsy for tomorrow morning. I am going to drop her off before I head to take my finals.

They quoted me at $142, but I don't know if that would include any testing that might have to do...

I'm sorry for your loss Please let us know what they find: I've never needed to have a necropsy done so I can't say if that's the norm price or not.

That's too bad. Sorry for your loss. I have no ideas to offer up, only condolences.

Very sorry for your loss!! It definately sounds like it was something that was at no fault of your own. I too am curious to hear the results of the necropsy.
