So I just got my first ball from my cousin who is getting rid of her snakes. Anyway, I was told she's about a year, she is around 2 ft, and she is a very sweet girl. I was handling her today, gently because she's still getting used to me, when i noticed she seems to have a rough spot on her back. Upon closer inspection it looks like one of her scales is almost torn off! It was hard to completely see, because she did not want to stay still but when I accidentally touched it while she was moving she kind of jerked away, like it hurt. Now I know she just recently shed because she still has a little bit left on her (supposedly she is a bad shedder, but I wouldn't be surprised if she just didn't have enough humidity in her old tank) but I was also told she has been eating live mice. And because of this I have been checking her to see if she has gotten any injuries or anything because of that, before I found this scale she seems fine. Other than that, I know she has been loving her hide (my cousin said she didn't have one before, poor girl) so maybe she accidentally scratched herself on it? It is one of those wooden half logs and is a little small for her, I plan on getting a better one when i get her a new tank next week. Anyway, does anyone have any idea what may be wrong with her scale? Should I wait until next shed to see if it goes away? or is there anything i can do for her now? I'll post a picture of it as soon as I can.
