    Question Water Bowl Size

Hey everyone. I'm currently using a 3 inch ceramic crock for a water bowl with my girl. That's the size that was recommended by several people. Looking at the size of my girl compared to the size of the bowl, the bowl just seems a little small to me (or maybe I'm just used to seeing unnecessarily large bowls in snake cages). I don't have humidity concerns, so that's not an issue. Is there any reason to have a bowl large enough to have a complete soak in? Thanks!

    Water Bowl Size

I've never seen one of my bps soak in my experience. They all have 4 to 5 inch water dishes.

My water bowls are 4 inches even for my biggest girls.

There is such a thing as too small of a water bowl, depending on the size of the tub/tank.
You need humidity and most of that comes from the water bowl.
I like large water bowls and very few of my snakes soak in them unless they go into a shed period, and even then most won't climb in and soak.
That is probably because my tubs hold very good humidity and they don't feel like they need more to shed properly.
In a tank you want a large water bowl since they typically do not hold humidity very well.

I use 5 inch ceramic bowls mainly because thats the size ive found that keeps my humidity levels perfect. As for big enough to soak ive never seen any of my snakes do more than crawl over their water dishes never soaking in them.

    Re: Water Bowl Size

Typically bps don't need to soak, soaking at times can mean husbandry problems. If you don't have humidity issues I don't see a need for a large water dish.

I have a female on breeding loan in my rack and she's the only one who soaks as she's going into shed. She has a 5 in water bowl just like everyone else.

I use 16oz deli cups for my water bowls for my adult snakes, they're 4 inches across.
