    Switching to a rack system

Soooo, my addiction has been blasting off like a rocket the last month or two..and I've already started looking into what kinds of BPs I want to get in the future. I've started looking into racks and I'm just curious to see some of your rack systems and opinions on what a good rack system consists of. I've been looking at RhinoRaXX and I'm pretty interested in eventually purchasing one. They have heating already installed in them and ready to use as soon as you get it. Does anybody else use these, by chance?

Looking for any and all information in regards to this topic. I just want to learn all I can about maintaining these before I take that dive into purchasing more BPs.

    Switching to a rack system

I have the ball room rack, I think. It works fine, but not exactly really sturdy IMO.

Re: Switching to a rack system

After deciding I wanted to expand my collection I looked over and over at commercial racks and I just couldn't bring myself to pay that much. I'm building a full melamine 3 sided, 6 tub, 41 qt sterilite rack with 12" THG heat tape. I'm building it super strong and with enough room to upgrade to CB-70 tubs if I choose. I'm building/heating this rack for only $162.00. And I think I've decided on a Herpstat 1 Basic for a total of about 300$. I guess I'm lucky I have a father who is pretty handy with tools.

Re: Switching to a rack system

Is the heating that's implemented in it enough to keep the temps up or do you use another external heating unit like a space heater or just turning the temps up in your house?

    Switching to a rack system

With a rack you have to have to have an ambient room temperature of 78-80.

Alright, haha. That's what I was most curious about. The site didn't go much into other ways to provide the proper ambient heating. How do you maintain humidity? I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to do as compared to a glass aquarium.

Humidity has never been an issue for me with tubs.

When I notice a snake going into blue, i move their dishes over their heat tape and I haven't had a bad shed yet.

This sounds so much easier than these darn aquariums! I can't wait to move to racks.

Same, well most my snakes dump their water dish over so the whole tub is wet. They shed good but I gotta change news paper daily when they do it. Gotta get wider more stable bowls so they can soak when they wanna I think.

I dunno, I have completely flat bowls, big enough for them to soak and I still get soaked tubs occasionally. Haha
