Re: Thought I Should Share This

These are really cool pictures! Although I think the title of the story, "Swimming with Death!" is a little extreme. I wouldn't get that close to a snake that big in the wild no freaking matter what! I'm not saying the dude's not a bad ass. I'm just saying that there was at least one other person there (hence the pictures of the photographer photographing the snake), probably more. And they were likely prepared to take that snake out if they had to. Which is why I'm on the fence with things like this. It's awesome to see it and be able to observe animals just chillin' by the river and whatnot. At the same time, we go into their territory to get these awesome videos and photographs knowing that if they wig out, the photographer/crew may get a bite or even be seriously injured, but the animal is likely going to be shot before it kills a person. And then there will be a documentary about how a brave photograher/anchor/cameraman narrowly escaped death due to the quick thinking of some behind-the-scenes hero with a shotgun.

So- I don't know if this kind of photography is a good thing or a bad thing, but it's definitely cool to see!
Adversity does not build character, it reveals it
