Would you invest in 2 female het clowns?
I am looking to buy .2 female het clowns for 450$ late 2012
How much would YOU pay?
Would you later pair them up with a lesser het clown or pastel het clown male? Or other?
Thanks

Re: Would you invest in 2 female het clowns?
I know this isn't what you want to hear but it is VERY hard to ask that question. Everyone's bank accounts and thoughts of value differ. It really comes down to... is it worth it to you?
I buy a lot of things that may sound expensive to one person and really cheap to another, but if I believe it has the value of what I can get it at, I will buy it.
Now with all that being said, being het, you would really need to make sure they are for sure hets and from a trusted source, then decide if it is worth $450. To me, it probably isn't, because I don't have clowns in my projects at the moment, but if you do have clowns in your projects then it probably is a good deal.
Sorry for being vague, just my 2 cents.

its okay! I would really like to make clowns, but since they're over my budget, this would be the only way. Then in 2 years im thinking lesser het clowns, or even a normal clown male would be lower in price, so i was just thinking about it.
Any other suggestions?
Thank you

Get a plan of the morphs you like to see and then go for it. Sounds like a great plan, hets are a great way to start in recessives. My first clutch has been in the cooker since March 16th, can't wait to see if I prove out my piebald girl, the wait it horrible though.

Are you asking if it's a good price? That I'm not sure of: I work with lavender albinos & pieds. $450 would be on the high side for two 100% het pied girls from this season, unless they had some really hefty size on them already. But clowns are a little pricier than pieds. So I'm thinking it's an okay price.
If you want to work with recessive genes, then yeah, het females are always a good investment. But the big question is, who is the breeder? Do they have a good reputation, is it someone you trust? 100% hets aren't as dicey as possible hets, but people still do pass off normals as 100% guaranteed. So make sure the breeder has a good reputation before you drop the money.

The last 2 seasons I have been selling 1.2 groups for $475 shipped, so $450 wouldn't be out of normal price for a pair of females.
You might ask for that to be a shipped price
I am doing yb het clown X 2 het clowns and clown X yb het clown, so sure, if hets are your only way into making combo's go for it.
