Yup. I've had an adult female dump huge urates that were very slug like. When I first saw them for the first time, I really thought she was slugging out too. It was huge. But slugs are kind of waxy where as this was really chalky(cuz it was a urates).

I have females that have a very subtle glow and missing an ovy is possible.
It is indeed a slug.
Try picking up your female head up and tail down and look at a mid section, then flip her upside down (tail up, head down), if there are eggs you will be able to see them clearly as they move and even be able to count them.
You definitely want to know if there are more.

Its also possible that she ovulated and you just didn't notice it because she may be full of slugs. When a female ovulates and there are no viable eggs, the ovulation can be very small. It would also be difficult to notice them by picking her up the way Deborah mentioned if there are no viable eggs in her. You can palpate her and feel them in her. You may think that they are just follicles but it could be small slugs like this one.
I thought at first you may have been talking about expelled follicles, but after the pic, its obviously just a slug.
My question now, is did she actually lock with the male, or did you just put the male in and didn't observe an actual lock? Typically a gravid, especially about to lay (slugs or eggs) won't lock up with a male.
I hope she's not full of slugs, but to me it sounds like that would be your most likely scenario. Let us know how things progress.

Re: Female laid 1 slug just before a lock?
Hey everyone, thanks so much for all of the feedback. I havent been near a computer for a few days so here's the update. I got a hold of one of my buddies that's been breeding for a long while and he suggested that she may just be taking her time to lay or could possibly be egg bound. After going over this we actually took the female out, examined her, weighed her and did some more research.
Weight- 1800 grams and 5 years old.
She has one visible egg about 6 inches from the vent give or take a few, it just has a very small build on it.
Her last shed was on April 7th. So 40+ days ago, this must have been the pre-lay shed.
We are going to set some sphagnum moss in the tub and moisten it to see if she may just be holding. If that does not work we will soak her in a few days to loosen her up and see what happens.
Does anyone have any other input or suggestions?
Luke, they did lock up for a good 12 hours or more. That's what makes this so puzzling. Also, she was still feeding up until the pre-lay shed so we were fairly surprised to see the egg.

Any updates? Did she pass the egg? I have a female in a sort of similar situation. She laid a bunch of slugs and has an egg sitting near her vent but it hasn't budged in a few days.
