    My poor breeder male

My poor boy is about bred to death literaly . I'm really worried about him he is about to shed I hope because his belly is so pink. I control all the temps with a herpstat and temp gun. He just seems so worn out and his eyes look tired. He hasn't eaten in about three weeks and won't eat now even though I haven't paired him in a week and a half. Is there anything I should be doing.

    My poor breeder male

Pull him if you are worried.

I started a thread asking about this a while back and it got moved around a few times, then died. Never got a good conversation started.

I just gave one of my BP males a few weeks off and threw in a Live Rat hoping he would get a meal in him. He took it

I used my Carpet male as an example in my thread (that's why it was moved)
He went off feed and just didn't want to stop. He has lost weight now. Washed him down, washed the cage down and moved him upstairs. Didn't help.

Both my Carpet girls have already laid and he is now in shed. I hope he feeds soon!!! He needs a good meal.

So I'm not sure if moving and washing does any good. I guess their sent would travel through the house. It's not like rooms are miles apart.

Good luck and I hope some good info is shared here about it.

    Re: My poor breeder male

This is just a relay of information on my part not actualy experience. I read another post on this where the male was just cruising the tub but wouldn't eat anything. They thoroughly cleaned the tub and hides etc and also bathed the snake, and it seemed to do the trick as he started eating again. The theory was that even though they weren't breeding him there still may have been scent from the females lingering that had him in breeding mode. Something to try anyway. Along the same line possibly moving him to a different room if possible away from any females. Hope this helps--I'm sure others with lots more experience will jump in.

    Re: My poor breeder male

Im giving him a break. I had one ovy so far and expect another any day but I don't want to take a chance of losing this pastel so I'm gonna let him rest a couple of weeks at least if all three girls haven't ovied I might pair him again depends on his condition.

3 weeks without food is nothing if he does not loose weight.
My lesser male was 817 grams at the beggining of breeding season (27th september 2012), and his last meal was on 17th of september 2012. And he just took his first mouse since then (16th of april 2013 - 762g at that moment), so he lost only 55 grams and locked over 25 times during this period .
He did great, even that he didn't eat at all during breeding season.
So just monitor his weight and he should be fine, unles there is something else going on, but mostly if something is wrong they loose weight .

Yep, my male mojave is about the same. He hasn't taken a meal since fall. Still won't eat.

I guess its worth scrubbing his tub and giving him a quick soak to see if that will help. He hasn't lost too much, but he is starting too look skinny around 700g! He has always been a smaller male, but he breeds like a beast.

He doesn't look skinny but he just seems to be less active, and he looks darker than usual with his entire belly pink. Maybe just a shed coming and Im being paranoid.

Well the pink belly is definitely a shed.
